Arnhems stadsatlier
Five artists were given the space and opportunities to conduct artistic research in various locations in Arnhem over the past few months and to share this with residents of Arnhem, with students and with each other. The programme stimulates special collaborations between people and organisations in Arnhem and breaks through artistic boundaries through cross-disciplinary and innovative research.
Social theatre maker Abhishek Thapar focuses on invisible kitchen workers in the hospitality industry. Lacuna Kitchen is a community arts project in which theatre, gastronomy, community building and social activism come together in a long-term investigation and a performance that touches both the intellect and the heart. In addition, four novice makers are working on their research at Plaatsmaken and Theater a/d Rijn and are taking their first steps in the cultural field: Ro Smit, Mel Kikkert, Levi Overvest and Charlotte Gillain. Their work touches on social themes and is characterised by diverse analogue and digital art forms and new ways of experiencing art.
Arnhems Stadsatelier is realised with the support of the municipality of Arnhem.

Lacuna Kitchen: pop-up restaurant and performance about invisible labour and the hidden stories in our food culture.
Lacuna Kitchen is a sensory theatre experience in the form of a unique pop-up restaurant, exploring the hidden stories behind our food culture. Personal ingredients and untold narratives from kitchen workers form the basis of a 3-course dinner. Lacuna Kitchen reveals how food can act as a bridge between cultures, while also exposing the invisible labour and the impact of colonialism embedded in our everyday meals. A surprising culinary experience where past and present meet.
